Log Into AIESEC

Log Into AIESEC est une conference pour les nouveaux membres d’AIESEC Corée, j’ai eu la chance d’y participer. Étant donné que je ne suis plus un nouveau membre depuis longtemps, mon objectif était davantage de rencontrer les membres, si possible les dans leur parcours AIESEC, voir comment se déroule une conférence en Corée et finalement, ajouter une touche internationale à l’organisation.

C’est certainement ce qu’AIESEC Corée manque le plus présentement.

Bref, le vendredi soir, chez pris un bus pour un endroit que je ne me rappelle plus le nom avec le reste des délégués (environs 400 personnes). On s’est présenté à tour de rôle et il fallait également chanter une chanson. C’était bien, j’apprécie ce genre de «ice breaker».

Arrivé à l’hôtel, on a été divisé en groupe avec lequel on a passé toute la fin de semaine y compris pour dormir. On était 15 dans une même chambre sur des ”matelas”, qui n’en n’était pas vraiment, avec une toilette dont la porte ne se verrouillait pas. De plus, je ne suis habituellement pas trop dédaigneux concernant les douches, mais je n’aurai pas pris une douche dans cet hôtel. Ah oui! Les toilettes publiques n’avaient pas de savon.

 C’était vraiment le pire hôtel dans lequel j’ai été.

J’oubliais la nourriture, ce n’était pas la meilleur que j’ai mangé, bon c’est de la nourriture de conférence donc il ne faut pas s’attendre à beaucoup… En gros, je n’ai pas mangé beaucoup lors de cette fin de semaine.

On a eu quelques sessions «ice breaker»  où j’ai encore eu la chance de me présenter à l’entière  délégation de cette conférence. Il y aussi eu une entière session de danses AIESEC, c’était bien, mais c’est aussi le seul vrai moment qu’on a fait cette activité.

Par la suite, on a eu les « room partys » qui sont en fait des jeux à boires, les Coréens adorent ces jeux. Ils  en mélangent 4 ou 5 en même temps, j’étais confus à certain moment. L’alcool était fourni par contre, c’est toujours bien!

Après une nuit de «sommeil», on a eu droit à une longue journée axé sur le leadership. Toutes les sessions étaient en coréens, bref j’avais besoin de traduction. Mais bon, j’avais déjà fait les mêmes sessions/exercices/réflexions dans ces conférences précédentes donc ce n’était pas nouveau.

J’ai été surpris de constater que je n’étais pas le seul « étranger » parmi les délégués. J’ai rencontré un Suédois et un Malaisiens. 

J’ai participé à cette conférence pour voir l’atmosphère et je n’ai pas été déçu, l’énergie et la passion étaient au rendez-vous. « Krazy Korean dancers » est une bonne expression pour décrire l’état des choses.

En somme, c’était probablement ma pire conférence AIESEC mais je NE REGRETTE ABSOLUMENT PAS d’y être allé. Si c’était à refaire, je ferais la même chose.

Log Into AIESEC is the first AIESEC Korea national conference of the years, it’s mostly for new members. It’s more focus on leadership development and the ABC of AIESEC. So even if I am not a new member anymore, I decide to join to see how they run a conference in Korea, meet the new member, if possible, inspire them for their AIESEC journey and finally bring an international touch in AIESEC Korea.

This is really what they miss right now, internationalism.

 On Friday, I took a bus with the other delegates (about 400 peoples) to a place which I don’t remember the name. We had to present ourselves and sign a song. That was funny; I love this kind of ice breaker.

At the hotel, we were divided by group which with we would pass the entire week-end, including for sleeping. About that, we were about 15 in a same room, sleeping on the floor, on a “mattress” with a bathroom where the door didn’t lock. I usually don’t mind for shower but I wouldn’t take a shower there. Also, the public bathroom didn’t have soap for washing hands…

About food, for sure it’s a conference, so your expectations are not high but that was not good food… I didn’t eat that much during this weekend.

That was the worst hotel I went for sure.

We had some ice breaker sessions where I had the chance to introduce myself in front of the whole plenary. We also had a full AIESEC dance session, but that was the only time we did that.

After, there were room parties where you play drinking game. Koreans love this kind of game and they mix 4 or 5 of them so that was pretty confusing for me. By the way, the alcohol was provided by the Organization Committee.

After a night of “sleep”, we had a full day of session about leadership and AIESEC 101. All the sessions were in Korean so I needed translation. But as I already did this kind of stuff in previous conference, it was not that bad.

I was surprise to meet other foreigners in this conference: a Swedish and a Malaysians guys. That was nice.

I attended this conference to see the mood and the atmosphere of an AIESEC Korea conference and I can tell that Korean AIESECers have passion, energy and loved to party. “Krazy Koreans Dancers” it something else that I can say about them.

So, it was probably the worst conference I went but I DON’T REGRET AT ALL to have been there. If I had to do this again, I would do the exact same thing.
